Skidmore battles #3 RIT

Box Score SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.-- The Skidmore College men's lacrosse team lost a 16-6 Liberty League contest to #3 Rochester Institute of Technology, Saturday evening a Wachenheim Field.
 
The Thoroughbreds (4-10, 2-3 Liberty) will face Union College in Schenectady on April 27 for the final spot in the Liberty League tournament.  The Tigers (13-2, 5-0) host St. Lawrence on April 27 for the league's regular season title.
 
RIT scored the game's first three goals, but the Skidmore hung tough, cutting it to 3-2 on goals by Kevin Mulvey and J.P. Sullivan. A late Tiger goal made it 4-2 after one.
 
Mike Perlow scored his 32nd goal of the season to get Skidmore to within one again, 4-3 at 10:57 of the second. RIT went on a 5-0 run and sored 10 of the game's next 11 goals to open it up, 13-4.  Eddie Kiesa had four of his game-high six goals during the run.
 
Perlow and Sullivan led the Thoroughbreds with two goals each.  John Hoeg had a goal and an assist. Sam Christiansen had seven ground balls and three caused turnovers on defense.  Brian Mitko had four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
 
For RIT, Kiesa finished with six goals and an assist. Jack Krzyston had a goal and four assists. Allister Warren and Braden Wallace had three goals each. Tyler Brooks-Lambert won 10 of 12 face offs.
 
RIT outshot Skidmore 52-35.
 
Matt Diaco had 10 saves over the first 52:28 for the Thoroughbreds, while John Sutherland had one save over the final 7:32. Pat Johnston had 12 saves in 48:50 for the Tigers, with Anthony DeLeo stopping three shots over the final 11:10.
