Skidmore men score early and often in 16-9 win at Vassar

Poughkeepsie, N.Y.-- J.P. Sullivan had a game-high six points on three goals and three assists to lead the Skidmore College men's lacrosse team to a 16-9 Liberty League win over Vassar College, Saturday.

The Thoroughbreds even their league record at 1-1 and improve to 5-4 overall, while the Brewers drop to 0-2 and 2-6.

The game was never close with Skidmore opening a 10-2 lead at the end of the first quarter and extending it to 16-5 after three.  The Thoroughbreds were able to get everyone playing time, with 32 players making it on to the stat sheet.
 
Eight different players scored Skidmore's first 11 goals, with Jeff Caruso scoring three straight at the end of an 11-2 opening run. Caruso finished with three goals, while Josh Trachtenberg scored his first three goals of the season.
 
Also for the Thoroughbreds, Ryan Paradis won 15 of 22 face offs and had two goals and seven ground balls.
 
Skidmore had a 46-19 shot advantage through three quarters, finishing with a 53-32 edge. The Thoroughbreds also opened a 40-18 ground ball advantage through three, ending with a 48-31 lead.
 
Skidmore hosts RPI on April 4 at 4 p.m.
