Mike Holden scored five goals to lead the Skidmore College men's lacrosse team to a 17-9 non-league win over Clark University, Saturday at Wachenheim Field.
The Thoroughbreds made the most of the season's first home game to improve to 3-3. Clark is 2-2.
Skidmore broke the game open with four straight second half goals, including three by Holden. Up 12-8 in the third, the Thoroughbreds scored three times in the final 4:00 of the quarter to open a 16-8 lead at the end of three.
Brock Bakewell scored his first of the season at 4:00 and then Holden scored off the
Ryan Paradis faceoff win at 3:52. Holden scored again at 3:29 from
Bryan Connolly. The fourth goal in the run came when Holden connected on a man-up goal at 6:22 of the fourth.
Skidmore's balanced attack featured goals from nine players.
Mike Perlow had three goals,
Jon Hoeg had a goal and three assists, and Connolly had two goals and three assists. Paradis finished with two goals and an assist and tied a team record with 13 ground balls.
Sam Christiansen contributed five ground balls and four caused turnovers.
Phil Winslow and Chris Johnson had three goals each for Clark.
Connor Dowling and
Drew Butturini split time in net for the Thoroughbreds. Dowling had four saves and Butturini eight.
Skidmore outshot Clark 43-29 and had a 40-26 ground ball advantage.
The Thoroughbreds travel to Williams College on March 20 for a 6 p.m. game.
