Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – Eight different players scored as the Skidmore College men's lacrosse team picked up an easy 14-2 over Clark in Saturday's non-league action at Wachenheim Field.
The Thoroughbreds improves to 4-1 on the season, while the Cougars drop to 1-4.
Skidmore scored the first 14 goals of the game, holding Clark scoreless for 51:03 to start the game.
Ben Cornell (Natick, Mass.) got the scoring started with a goal just 2:15 into the game and the Thoroughbreds never looked back. Cornell,
Mike Perlow (Briarcliff, N.Y.) and
Kyle Grillo (Wellesley, Mass.) each added a goal in the first as Skidmore led 4-0 after one.
The second period was much of the same for the Thoroughbreds as five different players scored a goal to take a 9-0 lead into halftime. Perlow, Grillo,
Richie Davis (Edgewater, Md.),
Bryan Connolly (Babylon, N.Y.) and
Jeff Caruso (Warrenton, Va.) all tallied goals in the second.
Perlow added a pair of man-up goals in the second, both assisted by
Matt Levesque (Duxbury, Mass.) and
Jon Bubier (Yarmouth, Maine) and
Quinn Regan (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) each picked up their first goals of the year to give Skidmore a 13-0 lead after three.
Regan added his second goal of the contest in the third before the Cougars were able to get on the board. Kyle Klapp scored the first goal off a turnover at the 8:57 mark of the fourth and just a few minutes later, Jeffery Wasson scored a man-up goal, but the Thoroughbreds wouldn't allow another goals as they picked up the win, 14-2.
Perlow finished with a game-high five points on four goals and an assist. Cornell, Girllo and Regan each finished with two goals. Senior
Dan DeMartini (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) picked up a game-high six ground balls and
Ryan Paradis (Brookside, N.J.) won 7-of-10 faceoffs. Junior goalie
Connor Dowling (Darien, Conn.) picked up the win, stopping 11 of the 13 shots he faced.
Andrew DeVito took the loss for the Cougars, allowing 10 goals on 22 shots in 31:00. Kevin Ranta made nine saves, while allowing four goals in relief duty.
Skidmore outshot Clark, 52-20 and committed just 15 turnovers compared to 28 for the Cougars.
The Thoroughbreds host Williams on Wednesday, March 23 at 4:30 p.m.
