Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-- Cory Barkoff scored four goals and had four assists to lead the Skidmore College men's lacrosse team to a 13-7 Liberty League win over Vassar College, Saturday night at Wachenheim Field.

The 7-5 Thoroughbreds remain in Liberty playoff contention with a 3-2 league mark and a final game May 1 at Clarkson. The Brewers are 4-9 and 0-5.

Vassar hung with Skidmore early with the teams tied 2-2 in the first quarter. Barkoff took over scoring three straight goals and assisting on a fourth in a 4-0 Thoroughbred run over the end of the first and start of the second that gave the team a 6-2 lead. Vassar stayed in the game with goals by Jack Gross at 10:56 of the second and Christopher Toffoloi at 10:10 to cut the lead to 6-4.

Skidmore then put the game away with a 4-0 streak to close the second and open the third with a 10-4 lead. Mike Holden, Rob Lutin, Barkoff and Jon Bubier scored in the run.

In addition to Barkoff, Lutin had four goals and two assists and Holden finished with two goals and an assist. Matt Levesque had a goal and an assist and Sam Lawfer scored a fourth-quarter goal. Ryan Paradis had seven ground balls and won 13 of 21 faceoffs. Scott Grillo had six groundballs, while Scott Madison had four ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Flip Bongaerts played the first 52:56 in net to earn the win with six saves.

Gross led the Brewers with four goals and three assists. Zach Beauchamp had a game-high 13 ground balls and won 8 of 14 faceoffs. Goalie Alex Tice has 16 saves.
