Middlebury, Vt. – Despite a victory by Carl-Eric Girardin (Lake Bluff, Ill.) at number one singles, the 22nd-ranked Skidmore College men's tennis team lost a 7-2 decision to sixth-ranked Middlebury College Saturday afternoon at the Nelson Recreation Center.
Girardin posted one of the biggest wins of his career as he was victorious over Conrad Olsen, who is ranked fourth nationally, 7-5, 6-2.
Spencer Cheng (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) picked up a win for the Thoroughbreds at number four singles, as he battled back from a second-set loss to win 6-1, 1-6, 7-5.
Skidmore (11-2) will host Hobart April 5 in its last match of the regular season and will prepare for the Liberty League championships on April 18-19 at Hobart.
