Vassar downs Skidmore women's tennis, 6-3

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – The #22 Vassar College women's tennis prevailed 6-3 over 27th-ranked Skidmore College Saturday afternoon in a rematch of the 2008 Liberty League championship.
 
Skidmore falls to 11-4 this season, while Vassar improves to 12-4.
 
Sophomore Danika Robison and Rachel Loeb got the Thoroughbreds off to a good start as they picked up an 8-5 win at the top doubles spot over Vassar's Nicole Pontee and Jamison Steele.
 
Freshman Allie Burns picked up Skidmore's first win in singles play at the number three flight when she won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0, over Joy Backer.
 
The Thoroughbreds third point came from senior Stephanie Abrams, who battled to a 6-1, 4-6 (11-9) victory over Steele at number six singles.
 
Skidmore will host Connecticut College on April 12 at 12:00 p.m.
