Canton, N.Y. – The 25th ranked Skidmore College women's tennis team did not lose a match in singles play as they cruised to an 8-1 win over St. Lawrence University Sunday morning in Newell Field House.
Sophomores Danika Robison (South Burlington, VT) and Rachel Loeb (Greenwood Village, CO) won a tight match at number one doubles as they forced a tiebreaker and came back for a 9-8 (13-11) victory over Stephanie Finn and Casey Gilman.
Loeb recovered from a first-set loss to Hilary Drewry and won the next two sets, 6-3, 6-1, to earn a point at number two singles for the Thoroughbreds. Loeb is 20-1 in singles play this season.
Freshman Allie Burns (Mequon, WI) took a win at number three singles with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Elizabeth Karam, while classmate Tory Engros (Bronxville, NY) played to a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Chelsea Hubbell at number five singles. Engros teamed with junior Laura Attley (Chatham, NJ) to claim an 8-3 win at number three doubles.
Skidmore will host 13th ranked Middlebury in its next match on April 1.
