Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – Five Skidmore College student-athletes were recognized by the Liberty League for their performances this past week.
Women's tennis junior
Danika Robison (South Burlington, Vt.) and volleyball senior
Lauren Dinsdale (Harrington Park, N.J.) were named Co-Performers of the Week for their respective sports while women's tennis freshman
Nataly Mendoza (San Francisco, Calif.) and field hockey freshman
Molly Gile (Dover, N.H.) were named Co-Rookie of the Week and women's soccer sophomore
Elena Stansky earned Co-Offensive Performer of the Week.
Robison and Mendoza reached the Middlebury Doubles main draw quarterfinals after beating McCall/Snyder of Amherst 8-1 and Faber/McAtee of Middlebury 8-0. They lost 8-3 to the eventual champions, Berckes/Danzig of Amherst; but would win their final two consolation matches and finish the weekend with a 5-1 record.
Dinsdale led the Thoroughbreds to a 3-1 record at the Interleague Challenge at Union College. In Skidmore's 3-0 victory over Potsdam, Dinsdale set a new school record for career digs and is now fourth all-time in the NCAA Division III record book with 3,299 digs. She earned All-Tournament honors after recording 90 digs, a 0.957 reception efficiency and five service aces over the four game span. Volleyball will participate in the Sage Invite this weekend at Sage College.
Stansky helped the Thoroughbreds improve to 10-2-1 on the season and remain perfect in league play, scoring a goal in both games this weekend. In Friday's win over Vassar, Stansky scored the game-winner with just under eight minutes left for a 2-1 victory. In Saturday's 2-1 victory she got the scoring started with a sliding shot that beat the keeper and tied her for the team lead in goals with four. Women's soccer will host Union at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Gile scored her first collegiate goal in Saturday's 4-1 win over #18 Hamilton. Gile was one of four Thoroughbreds to score and helped #11 Skidmore improve to 8-3 on the year. Field hockey travels to Castleton on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
