SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College women's lacrosse team knows it has a bit of an uphill climb in Saturday's Liberty League semifinal against William Smith, but the Thoroughbreds won't be intimidated as they go for the league championship and automatic NCAA tournament bid. The game is at 11 a.m.
Skidmore (12-5), seeded fourth, advanced after a wild 24-19 quarterfinal win over Vassar College. Top seed and host William Smith (15-2) is ranked 14
th nationally and coming off a 17-5 win over the Thoroughbreds on April 27.
Clarkson (12-6) will take on #2 and 21
st ranked Ithaca College in the other semifinal. The championship is set for 1 p.m. Saturday.
Skidmore is led by one of the nation's top offensive threats in
Cas Szwajkowski. She has set almost every program offensive record and leads the Liberty League with 86 goals and eight assists for 94 points. In addition, she 95 draw controls.

Emily Hirsch (29-3-32), and
Shelby Boland (14-16-30) give Skidmore a balanced attack beyond Szwajkowski. Hirsch has a team-high 99 draw controls, while LaBeau leads the team with 25 caused turnovers.
Caroline Kenlon is 10-5 in goal with a 12.94 goals against average and .424 save percentage.
William Smith is led by Ellie Burns with 50 goals and 11 assists for 61 points. Mekyla Montgomery leads the Liberty League with 39 caused turnovers and is second in ground balls with 52. The Herons feature the league's top two goaltenders. Olivia Hofmann has a 5.58 goals against average and .568 save percentage, while Jules Kennedy sports a 7.51 GAA and .466 save%.
