WEST MILTON, Vt. – The Women's Novice Four boat picked up a victory, leading the Skidmore College men's and women's rowing teams as the opened the spring season on Lake Champlain Sunday morning. St. Lawrence and host Vermont also competed in the regatta.
The Novice Four boat, consisting of coxswain
Hagar Sivan,
Emma Jones,
Jessica Plotnick,
Yorlenis Cardenas, and
Nicole McElhoe, finished the 1,750-meter course in a winning time of 7:52.9, just under a second ahead of St. Lawrence's boat.
The women's Varsity Eight boat, consisting of Sivan,
Liv Del Brocco,
Alex Tomb,
Sarah Goulding,
Stella Solasz,
Maddie Jacques,
Allie Morin,
Lucy Battle, and
Franny Hough, finished their race in 6:57.1.
On the men's side, the Varsity Four+ boat of coxswain
Hannah Cramer,
Casey Moser,
Morris Katz,
Harrison Shockley, and
Ross Powell finished second in 7:14.5. The Novice Four boat also finished second, as the team of coxswain
Rowan Schomburg,
Aaron Banwer,
Roger Mercado,
Michael Shriner, and
Dante Greco-Henderson ran the course in 7:05.1. In the Varsity Eight boat the team of Cramer, Lex Cadenhead,
Jack Firestone, Moser, Katz, Shockley, Powell,
Adam Warner, and
Caleb Dimenstein finished in 6:18.1.
Skidmore will return to action next Saturday, heading to Oswego, N.Y. to compete in The Busfield Regatta.
