Capozucca IRCA All-America 2024

Capozucca named Skidmore’s first IRCA All-American

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Rising senior Ryan Capozucca became the first All-American in Skidmore College men's rowing history when he was honored on the 2024 Empacher-Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association (IRCA) All-America Second Team.
 
In order to be named an "All-American", rowers and coxswains must meet all eligibility rules defined by their institution, have raced in their team's varsity boast for the current spring racing season, been nomination by their institution, and the head coach must be in good standing with the IRCA.
 
Nominated student-athletes are selected by the IRCA Board of Directors to one of the two teams, or Honorable Mention, based on the following criteria: strength of finish of the institutions varsity boat, nomination rank within institution, coach's comments, individual achievements, and erg score.
 
For the 2024 season, 99 rowers and coxswains representing 42 teams across three divisions were selected. Capozucca is one of just two student-athletes representing the Liberty League, joining Ithaca's Riley Maynard.
 
Capozucca, an All-Liberty League First Team honoree, was selected as the team's MVP and recently announced as a captain for the upcoming 2024-25 season. The men's varsity 8+ finished fifth at the Liberty League Championships.
 
Capozucca is Skidmore Athletics' 233rd all-time All-American.
