Skidmore Hockey CABVI Night this Friday

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College ice hockey team will host a fundraiser for youth blind hockey players at the Saratoga City Rink this Friday, Nov 22 at 7pm against SUNY Canton. The event is free for all and all proceeds raised will go to the Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI) to help its youth blind hockey program for future National team prospects.
 
Friday's event will feature a Blind Hockey Simulator, Score-O Shooting Competition, and a 50/50 Raffle to help raise money to support CABVI and the youth blind hockey program.
 
Skidmore is 3-1-1 to start the season. Mike Gelatt and Austin Rook top the team in scoring with two goals and three assists each. The team's balanced offense has seen 17 players earn at least one point in the first five games.
 
Brandon Kasel has been lights out in net with a 1.38 goals against average and .952 save percentage.
 
Canton is 1-2-1 as an NCAA Division III independent team. The Kangaroos lead the nation in penalty minutes with 33.0 per game.  Jesse Farabee (3 goals, 2 assists, 5 points) and Kyler Matthews (1-4—5) lead the team in scoring. Michael Cerasuolo has a 4.01 GAA and .916 sv% in three games.
 
The CABVI is dedicated to assisting those who are blind and visually impaired to achieve their highest levels of independence. CABVI is a not-for-profit organization that offers comprehensive vision rehabilitation, employment, and technology services that are tailored to meet the individual's needs.
 
CABVI runs a variety of different sports and recreational activities for those who are blind and visually impaired, including a youth blind hockey program. CABVI is also the official training center for the USA Blind Hockey team. The Thoroughbreds are excited to raise money for such a worthy cause.
 
The teams will play again on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Canton.
