Meren once again honored by Liberty League

TROY, N.Y. – Sophomore guard Noah Meren of the Skidmore College men's basketball team earned yet another nod from the Liberty League, landing on the league's Honor Roll for the second time this season as the league announced its weekly winners on Monday, Jan. 14.
 
Meren is also a four-time Liberty League Performer of the Week honoree.
 
Meren averaged 16.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 1.3 blocks per game for the Thoroughbreds, who completed a busy week with a 1-2 record. Meren captured his second double-double of the season on Tuesday against Division I Yale, scoring 13 points and adding 11 rebounds. Returning to Liberty League action on Friday, the sophomore tallied 21 points and nine rebounds against RIT, then capped the weekend with 15 points, six rebounds, three assists, four steals, and three blocked shots against Hobart on Saturday.
 
Meren continues to lead the league in scoring at 21.3 points per game. He also leads the team in rebounding (6.8 rpg) and steals (1.6 spg).
 
Skidmore (8-5, 6-1 Liberty League) dipped into the waters of Division I basketball against Yale on Tuesday, falling by an 88-59 score. The Thoroughbreds rebounded with a 70-59 victory over RIT on Friday, extending their streak against Liberty League opponents to eight games (extending from last season), before seeing the run end against conference foe Hobart on Saturday by a 64-52 score. Skidmore will have three chances to start a new streak this week, beginning with its annual trip to Poughkeepsie, taking on Vassar Tuesday at 7 p.m. Skidmore then returns home this weekend, hosting Bard on Friday (7 p.m.) and Ithaca Saturday (4 p.m.).
