SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – A Liberty League contest will have special meaning to the Skidmore College women's soccer team this weekend, as it hosts RPI at Wachenheim Field Saturday afternoon.

Saturday's contest will serve as the second part of a two-day
Go 4 the Goal event with Saratoga Springs High School. The event looks to raise money and awareness for pediatric cancer. At the high school game on Thursday against rival Shenendehowa, the Thoroughbreds be there, collecting money at halftime. On Saturday, Skidmore will wear gold laces, have local youth teams walk the teams out before the game, run the lines during the game, and play in a special scrimmage at halftime. The Blue Streaks will be at Wachenheim Field to collect money during Saturday's contest.
The Go 4 the Goal organization will collect the money which will be used to provide support for pediatric cancer patients and their families at the Albany Medical Center.
Skidmore (4-3, 1-1 Liberty League) comes into this contest after a solid showing in its last two games. The Thoroughbreds fell to William Smith, the fifth-ranked team in the country in the United Soccer Coaches national polls, by a narrow 1-0 margin last Saturday. On Tuesday, the Thoroughbreds bounced back, getting its first league victory against Clarkson by a 1-0 score. This season, the Thoroughbreds' only three losses have come to ranked opponents, including two top-five teams in William Smith and Williams.
Sophomore
Yasmine Boukari leads the team in scoring, with 12 points on five goals and two assists. She's already improved on her freshman season total of 10 points (four goals, two assists). Fellow freshmen
Carly Craft and
Vanessa Eljaiek, as well as seniors
Emma Basso and
Courtney Shaw each have one goal.
In goal, freshman
Ava Keller notched her second victory and first career shutout last Tuesday. She's currently 2-2 with a 1.00 goals against average and a .714 save percentage. Fellow freshman
Vivian Montgomery-Walsh split time early in the season, and she's also been solid in net. She has a 2-1 record with a 1.31 goals against average and a .667 save percentage.
RPI enters the weekend with a 4-4 record and a 1-0 mark in league action. They are one of the league's hotter teams, winners the last three contests. They defeated Sage and league foe Bard on the road by matching 2-1 scores, before defeating Hartwick at home in their last contest, by a 1-0 score.
Jacqui Richard leads the Engineers with four points on two goals. Emily Dunn and Whitney Wisnom each have three points, tallying a goal and assist. Maddie Steinmetz leads the team with two assists. Patrolling the net is Joey Lyons, who has a 1.11 goals against average with a .727 save percentage.
Last season in Troy, the Engineers tallied two second-half goals to pull away for a 2-0 victory, back on Sept. 30. Skidmore and RPI have split the last eight contests in the all-time series.
