Skidmore falls to Bombers in first round of Liberty League Tournament

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – The fourth-seeded Skidmore College women's soccer team bowed out in round one of the 2025 Liberty League Tournament with a 3-0 defeat to fifth-seeded Ithaca at Wachenheim Field on Tuesday afternoon.

Despite generating several quality chances throughout the match, the Thoroughbreds (7-6-4) failed to break through and ultimately couldn't overcome early scores from a red-hot Bombers (8-5-4) team that ended the evening having scored 11 goals in their past four games.

Skidmore wraps up another successful season in which the program qualified for the postseason for the fourth time in the past five seasons, including hosting a first round game for the third time in four years.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bombers struck early with a tenth minute goal scored by Zara Nourie on a successful corner kick opportunity.
  • Freshman Mara Grace nearly scored the equalizer in the 15th minute on a shot that sailed just a bit too high to hit the crossbar and keep Skidmore off the board.
  • In the 20th minute, Ithaca went up by two goals on a deep strike from Ava Detorie.
  • Coming out of intermission, the Bombers quickly pulled away with a 51st minute score from Lilyana Baldi to push the lead to an overwhelming three goals.
