SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Junior guard Edvinas Rupkus of the Skidmore College men's basketball team earned a spot on the D3hoops.com's All-Region squad, as the organization announced its teams on Tuesday, March 13. Rupkus was named to the East Region's First team.

Rupkus moves up to the first team after earning a second team nod last season. The 2017-18 Liberty League Player of the Year and NABC All-District First Teamer had another outstanding all-around season for the Thoroughbreds, earning All-Region honors for the second straight year. Rupkus was arguably the most efficient scorer in the league this season, leading the league in scoring with a school-record 594 points (22.1 ppg), breaking his own record of 580 from last season. The junior had stellar shooting splits, making 50.5 percent from the field (third in league), 42 percent from 3-point range, and 82.6 percent from the free throw line (sixth). He added a team-leading 6.5 rebounds, with 3.3 assists and 1.1 steals per game. The junior has tallied five double-doubles on the season and scored 20 or more points 16 times, including a season-high 39 points in the Liberty League quarterfinal win against Ithaca, earning Liberty League All-Tournament honors in the process.

Rupkus will enter his senior season in third place on the career scoring list with 1,655 career points, just 34 points away from the all-time mark of 1,689 points.

Players chosen to the D3hoops.com All-Region team are eligible for All-American selection. The All-American team will be announced at the end of this week, in conjunction with the Division III men's championships. This is the 17th year D3hoops.com has named an All-Region team and this year's All-America team will be the 21st annual All-American selections. The D3hoops.com All-American teams, along with those of the respective coaches' associations, are the only ones recognized in the NCAA record book.

The Thoroughbreds (15-12, 9-9 Liberty League) advanced to the Liberty League Championship game for the third time in four years in the 2017-18 season. They were ranked as high as 16 in the d3hoops.com national rankings, going on to earn a league postseason spot for the ninth straight season.
