THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The No. 27 Skidmore College men's tennis team survived an early scare from an unranked Cal Lutheran squad, finishing strong in singles action to earn a 6-3 victory at the Poulson Tennis Center Monday afternoon.
Skidmore improves to 6-1 with the win. They will face No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Thursday at 3 p.m. local time. Cal Lutheran drops to 0-5 and will host Trinity (Tex.) on Thursday at 1 p.m.
The Thoroughbreds got an early scare from the Kingsmen in doubles. For the second straight contest, the sophomore pair of
Jason Keye and
Jack McClaren picked up Skidmore's lone point in doubles action, earning an 8-5 victory over Sebastian Ariza and Joshua Legordy at No. 3.
Skidmore would dominate in singles play, winning five of the six matches to earn the victory. Senior
Ted Berkowitz would earn a point for Skidmore with a dominating 6-1, 6-1 victory against Florent Avteil at No. 5. Sophomore

Lucas Pickering were just as strong, earning victories at second, fourth and sixth singles, respectively. Junior
Travis Leaf dropped his first set at No. 3, but rallied to defeat Dara Kashani by a 1-6, 6-3, 7-5 score.
