BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Skidmore College men's tennis team opened the NCAA Tournament with a 4-0 victory over Bridgewater State University on Friday afternoon at Bowdoin. Skidmore, ranked 23
rd nationally, will stay in Maine to take on 12
th-ranked Babson on Saturday afternoon.
- Skidmore won doubles by a combined 12-1 score.
- Yuval Goodman and Harrison Gradin swept their opponents at first doubles.
- In the No. 3 match, Ege Topbas and Kyle Lundberg won 6-1.
- Fletcher King and Nika Mori were ahead 5-2 when Skidmore clinched the point.
- The Thoroughbreds also won the requisite three singles matches, with leads in the other three, to close it out rather quickly.
- Lundberg didn't drop a game in his match that lasted just over half an hour to make it 2-0.
- Just a couple minutes later, Topbas and Mori both claimed their wins at fourth and fifth singles, respectively, to close it out. They both only dropped one game.
- Goodman, King, and Mahen Bitkuri were all up a set when the match was clinched.
- The win is Skidmore's first in the tournament since 2019 when it opened with a 5-1 victory over TCNJ.
