SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Skidmore College crew head coach
Jim Tucci has announced the hire of
Matt Laraba as the men's and women's Assistant Crew Coach for the upcoming 2018 spring season. Laraba will assist in player development as well as coordinate recruiting efforts with Tucci.
"I'm very excited for this hire," said Tucci. "Coach Laraba is experienced and has many fine attributes, which I'm confident will serve to enhance the quality of our rowing program."
Laraba comes to Skidmore with nine years of experience in the rowing world as a rower, coxswain, and coach. He began as a three-year rower at Lowell High School in Lowell, Mass. before rowing collegiately while attending UMass Lowell, where he graduated in February 2017 with a B.A. in Psychology.
While in college, Laraba returned to his alma mater of Lowell High, serving as an assistant coach from 2013-2015. From there, he served as the head coach at Haverhill High School, helping to build that program for three years. Laraba also worked with the Merrimack River Rowing Association from 2016-2018, working with rowers of all ages.
A native of Lowell, Mass., Laraba currently lives in Saratoga Springs.
