AMHERST, Mass. – The 23rd-ranked Skidmore College men's tennis team wrapped up the regular season with a 6-3 loss to No. 13 Amherst in non-league action at the Amherst Tennis Courts Sunday afternoon.
 
Skidmore, ranked 23rd in the latest Oracle/ITA Division III Men's Tennis weekly poll, falls to 9-6 overall. Amherst improves to 21-3.
 
Amherst took two of three fiercely competitive matches in doubles action. with the pair of Steven Koulouris and Travis Leaf picking up Skidmore's lone victory at No. 2, edging Oscar Burney and Josh Marchalik by a 9-8 (7-4) score.
 
Kai Yuen Leung and Koulouris each won their singles matches for the Thoroughbreds. Leung, the second-ranked singles player in the Northeast region, outlasted eighth-ranked Zach Bessette in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4 at No. 1. Koulouris rallied from dropping his first set at No. 2, defeating Marchalik 1-6, 6-3, 6-2.
 
Skidmore will gear up for the Liberty League Tournament, held at the Reis Tennis Center at Cornell University on May 6-7. The Thoroughbreds are the league's number one seed and have won the last three league championships.
