Thoroughbreds to host weekend series vs RIT

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College baseball team returns home for a four-game set, hosting league-leading RIT this weekend. The teams will meet for Saturday and Sunday doubleheaders, with both game ones beginning at noon.
 
Skidmore comes into the weekend with a 9-14 record overall and a 4-10 mark in league play. Earlier this week, the Thoroughbreds briefly left conference play, falling 9-5 at Williams on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Thoroughbreds are third in the league with a .311 team batting average, and are second in the league in home runs (10) and RBI (127). Individually, Will Potter leads the league with a .449 batting average, while Patrick Geiger is tied for the league lead with four home runs. Josh Brown leads the team with 18 RBI and sports a solid .382 batting average, with Geiger (16) and Ryan Strickland (15) also driving in double-digit runs. Steven Gilbert leads the team in runs scored (15), walks (13), and stolen bases (eight), while batting .329.
 
On the mound, Jacob Berish leads the staff with a 2.83 ERA in four starts, going 2-1. Andrew Aikins has a 3.77 ERA and leads the team in strikeouts, with 24. Jay Gamboa (3.81) and Spencer Anderson (5.33) are both second on the team with 16 strikeouts apiece.
 
RIT comes into the weekend with a 16-6 record overall and a 10-1 mark in league play. The Tigers are the league's hottest team with a nine-game win streak. RIT leads the league in batting average (.320), home runs (11), RBI (158), and team ERA (3.62).
 
Individually, Will Gorman is the team's power threat, leading the league in both runs scored (27) and home runs (four). Gorman is also second to teammate Brett Kajganich in RBI with 20. Kajganich leads the league with 23 RBI. Rookie Navada Waterman leads the team with a .367 batting average.
 
On the mound, Jameson Moran leads the starters with a 2.14 ERA and a 3-0 record. Stevie Branchie (4.12) leads the team with 36 strikeouts in 19.2 innings pitched, with Brian Reed (2.23) right behind with 34 strikeouts in 32.1 innings. Brett Bouchard is the team's go-to reliever with a 1.32 ERA and a pair of saves in 14 appearances and 27.1 innings pitched.
 
This will be the first meeting between the clubs since 2015. That season, RIT took three out of four from Skidmore in the season series, with all games played at Castle Diamond.
