TROY, N.Y. – Recent Skidmore College graduate
Quinn Hocom has signed a professional contract with the Tri-City ValleyCats on Tuesday.
A member of the Frontier League, the ValleyCats play their home games at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in nearby Troy. The Frontier League, an official MLB Partner League, is the oldest active independent professional baseball league in North America. It is composed of 15 teams in the United States with three in Canada.
Hocom, a 6'3" right-hander from Watsonville, California, went 6-0 with 77 strikeouts and a 4.41 ERA over 49 innings for the Thoroughbreds this spring. He struck out 10 or more in four of his first five starts. Overall, he finished his career 13-4 for Skidmore over 34 starts. He totaled 172.2 innings with a record 230 strikeouts.
Hocom joins the team as it opens a six-game homestand on Tuesday night at "The Joe" against the Sussex County Miners.
