SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's soccer team looks to continue its hot start, with a pair of games this weekend. The Thoroughbreds host MCLA on Sept. 9 at Wachenheim Field, a 6 p.m. start, before hitting the road for a tough test in the defending Division III National Champions, Williams, on Sept. 11 at noon.

Skidmore got its offense going early and often to begin the 2016 season, defeating Castleton 7-3 on Sept. 1. Just over a minute and a half into the contest, Emily Mendes converted a penalty try to get the Thoroughbreds on the board. She then got her second of the game in the 24th minute, and picked up an assist on an Emma Basso goal in the 37th minute. Emily Saliterman and Jemimah Cochrane also scored twice in the contest.

The four-goal margin is the biggest since Sept. 16, 2014, a 4-0 win, also at home against Castleton. This was the first victory in a season opener since 2011.

SCOUTING MCLA (1-0-1)
MCLA comes into this weekend undefeated after two matches. The Trailblazers played Rivier to a 0-0 draw in the season opener on Sept. 3, then defeated St. Joseph on the road, 1-0 on Sept. 6. Marissa Sprague has scored the lone goal for MCLA, on three shots. Megan Richardson has not allowed a goal in 201:15 of game action.
