SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College women's lacrosse team opens Liberty League play at home this weekend with games against William Smith and defending league champion Union.
The Thoroughbreds (3-4) take on William Smith at 4 p.m. on Friday and Union on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Tyler Phillips leads Skidmore in scoring with 23 goals and seven assists for 30 points. She also has a team-high 16 caused turnovers and 22 draw controls. Rookie
Cas Szwajkowski had 19 goals in her first seven games.
Marisa Caponi and
Natalie LaBeau had nine goals and two assists each.
Rachel Talanian leads the team with 27 ground balls to go along with 12 caused turnovers and 10 draws.
Megan Kolopsky has been steady in goal with a 9.25 goals against average and .483 save percentage.
The Herons are 1-5 with a pair of one-goal losses. Hannah Connolly leads William Smith with 14 goals and seven assists for 21 points. Goalie Sarah Honan has a 9.79 GAA and .453 save percentage. Skidmore won the 2015 match-up 11-10.
The Union game will be a rematch of the 2015 Liberty League championship game, won 14-6 by Dutchwomen. Union (3-2) won the regular season game 9-8. Maggie Comiskey leads her team in scoring with five goals and eight assists for 13 points. Caillin Pandolfi has nine goals and three assists. Jen Hughes has a 9.47 GAA and .453 save percentage.
