SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's basketball team will close out the home portion of its non-league schedule, hosting Houghton on Saturday, Dec. 3 at the Williamson Sports Center at 4 p.m.
The Thoroughbreds (4-1) come into the weekend after getting back into the win column on Monday against The College of New Jersey, winning 96-84. Guard
Edvinas Rupkus exploded for a career-high 37 points in the victory, adding eight rebounds.
This season, four different Thoroughbreds have led the way in scoring in games. Against Ithaca on Nov. 22, guard Aldin Medjunanin led the way with a season-best 27 points. In a victory over Stevenson on Nov. 19, it was fellow guard
Royce Paris that led the way with 20 points. In the season opener against Castleton on Nov. 15, guard
Jack Byrne led with 19 points as the Thoroughbreds coasted to a win.
The trio of Medunjanin, Rupkus, and Paris are all among the Liberty League scoring leaders, while Byrne leads the conference in 3-point shooting percentage, shooting an impressive 58.3 percent (14-for-24) from beyond the arc.
Houghton comes into the weekend with a 2-2 record. After starting out 2-0, the Highlanders fell to Hilbert College on Nov. 22, then to Villa Maria 78-68 on Wednesday. Leading Houghton is guard Dylan Lambert, who averages 20.8 points per game, shooting nearly 51 percent from the field. Forward Jonathan Stowe is second with 13.8 points per game and leads the team with 9.0 rebounds per contest. Guard Phil Pellegrino is third on the team with 13.3 points per game.
