SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – A rematch with Vassar is all that separates the Skidmore College field hockey team from a berth in the Liberty League Championship for the first time since 2014, as the teams do battle Wednesday evening in Poughkeepsie.

The Thoroughbreds come off a 2-0 victory at Oneonta in the season finale, bringing their impressive road record to 6-2 overall. Krista Lamoreaux and Kayla Rose tallied the goals for Skidmore in the win, while Elizabeth Coughlin made one save to earn her third shutout and 12th victory of the season, both career highs for the sophomore.

Skidmore has one of the best scoring tandems in the league, in Lamoreaux and Gabby Hyman. Hyman is second in the league with 17 goals and third in the league in points (2.00). Lamoreaux is third in the league with eight assists and fourth in the league in both shots per game (4.61) and points per game (1.67). Other players have stepped up on offense for the Thoroughrbeds, including Miranda Davenport, who has seven goals and two assists, sinking game-winners against Rochester and RPI earlier in the season.

SCOUTING VASSAR (14-3)
Vassar earned the tiebreaker and the home playoff contest after a hard-fought 2-1 win over the Thoroughbreds on Oct. 15. The Brewers come into this matchup after winning the last two contests, defeating the University of Scranton 2-0 on Wednesday, and a 3-2 victory over New Paltz on Saturday. Coming into the regular season unranked in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association national polls, Vassar has gone 3-1 against the nation's top teams, and is now the first team receiving votes in the latest Division III Coaches Poll.

Vassar is second in the league, averaging 3.17 goals per game, and has the best goals against average (0.58) in the conference. Megan Caveny is one of the conference's best offensive threats. She is second in the conference in shots per game (5.59), and is third with eight assists. She is also the leading goal scorer for the Brewers with nine goals. Paige Amico has had a strong season, leading the conference with a 0.68 goals against average, a .828 save percentage, and five shutouts.
