Baseball Game Preview - vs. Bard

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College baseball team closes out the regular season this weekend with a home-and-home against Bard.

SCOUTING THE THOROUGHBREDS (11-20, 5-13 Liberty League): Skidmore dropped its final non-league game of the season on Tuesday, falling 14-4 to Middlebury. Junior Jeb Clarke led the Thoroughbreds, going 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI, extending his reach-base streak to eight games.
 
Clarke leads the team with a .346 batting average, a .453 on-base percentage and four doubles against conference opponents this season. He ranks second on the team with a .345 batting average and a .437 on-base percentage and third with 16 RBI. Sophomore Josh Brown has a team-best .509 slugging percentage and 14 RBI against Liberty League opponents. Freshman Eric Damphousse is currently on a five-game hitting streak and is batting .444 with two doubles, a home run and five RBI in that stretch. Senior Nick Petrella is second in the conference with 55.2 innings pitched and fourth win 41 strikeouts.
 
 
SCOUTING THE RAPTORS (14-14, 5-10 Liberty League): Bard scored a program-record 19 runs on 18 hits, including eight doubles, in a 19-12 win against John Jay on Tuesday. Senior Alec Montecalvo finished 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles, four RBI and four runs scored, sophomore Adam Carafotes was 3-for-5 with a double, four RBI and three runs scored and freshman Nick Kifyak also finished a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI.
 
Freshman David Schlosser has been a key contributor in his rookie season. He leads the league with 19 stolen bases and is third in with a .431 batting average and a .518 on-base percentage. Carafotes has produced a league-high 50 hits and 16 doubles this season. He is tied with Montecalvo for fifth in the conference with 30 RBI. Carafotes has reached base in 14-straight games, while Schlosser has reached in 15 consecutive games. Kifyak is swinging a hot bat, going 7-for-11 over the last three games.
 
Montecalvo has also been the team's top performer on the mound, posting a 3.82 ERA over 37.2 innings.
