SCOUTING THE THOROUGHBREDS (8-18, 2-12 Liberty League): Skidmore was knocked off by Union, 8-4, in a non-league contest on Wednesday. Junior first basemen
Mike LaVita was 2-for4 with a run scored and
Mat Marino was 2-for-5.
Josh Brown went 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Skidmore is third in the league with 45 doubles.
LaVita is third in the conference with a .545 on-base percentage, sixth with a .597 slugging percentage and seventh with a .418 batting average. Brown leads the team with 23 RBI, including six in the last five games. He is tied for sixth in the conference with three home runs and tied for the team-high with eight multiple hit games.
Matt Barra has produced nine doubles, tying him for fourth in the conference.
SCOUTING THE SAINTS (14-14, 5-10 Liberty League): St. Lawrence went 1-3 on the road at Union over the weekend, compiling just eight runs over the four games. The Saints split with Plattsburgh on Wednesday, winning game two 7-4 after dropping the first game, 8-2. The Saints are 4-2 at home and are 5-5 over their last 10 games.
Senior Mark Syron leads the team with a .596 slugging percentage and a .500 on-base percentage. He is third in the league with 13 stolen bases and third with 28 RBI and is batting .393 against conference opponents with three doubles, two triples and two home runs. Senior Andrew Schreyack is 10th in the league with a 2.78 ERA through 32.1 innings. He has struck out a team-high 19 batters and has allowed just three earned runs over his last three starts.
