Josh Brown's grand slam propelled Skidmore's to its only win of the weekend. The Thoroughbreds went 1-3 in their series with RIT. The Tigers pounded out 30 hits in the first two games, winning 13-2 and 14-7. Skidmore dropped a non-league contest to Williams, 10-2, on Wednesday. Brown had another strong game at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. He leads the team with 20 RBI, three home runs and five multi-RBI games this season.
SCOUTING THE DUTCHMEN (16-9, 10-6 Liberty League): Union posted three wins in its series against St. Lawrence over the weekend. The Dutchmen are 6-1 over their last seven games. Sophomore Jake Fishman pitched a complete-game one-hitter and went 6-7 at the plate in the first two games of the series. Union was held scoreless in game three but exploded for 10 runs on 16 hits in the final game. Junior Jamie Farber was 4-for-5 with two RBIs in game two, while sophomore Kent Curran drove in three runs.
Fishman leads the league with a .532 batting average and a .575 on base percentage. He also holds a 1.34 ERA, limiting opponents to a .190 batting average. Junior Jamie Farber is batting .447 and has produced a team-best 22 RBI. Junior Eric Egan has recorded a league-high seven triples and ranks second with a .726 slugging percentage. Freshman pitcher Andy Labeck has been nearly untouchable this season, leading the conference with a .0.83 ERA in 33.2 innings. He has given up just 17 hits in five starts.
