Baseball Game Preview - at Rochester

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College baseball team will be looking to snap the University of Rochester's win streak this weekend in a pair of road doubleheaders.

SCOUTING THE THOROUGHBREDS (6-8, 0-4 Liberty League): Skidmore went 2-1 in its series against NY, producing 21 runs over the three games. Sophomore outfielder Josh Brown went 3-for-6 for the series with a homerun, four RBI and three runs scored, while Mat Marino was 4-for-10 with four RBI and two two doubles. Chris Lorenz ran his hitting streak to six games with hits in all three contests. Jake Dougherty earned his first win of the season in the team's 10-7 victory, allowing three runs (two earned) and strikeout out five over 4 2/3 innings of relief. Mike LaVita, who is currently riding a five-game hitting streak, ranks seventh in the league with a .419 batting average and 10th with a .613 slugging percentage.
 
 
SCOUTING THE YELLOWJACKETS (14-7, 7-1 Liberty League): Rochester extended its winning streak to 10 games, rattling off four-straight conference victories against St. Lawrence  before beating Ithaca on Tuesday. Senior pitcher Josh Schulman tossed a 9-inning complete game shutout against the Bombers. The Yellowjackets are 10-3 at home this season.
 
Rochester has surrendered two or fewer runs in 10 games, while offensively it is batting .306 and averaging 7.3 runs, 6.5 RBI and 15.6 total bases per game.
 
Junior infielder Brian Munoz has reached base safely in all 21 games this season, ranking second on the team with a .377 batting average. Junior catcher Nolan Schultz has recorded a team-high six multiple RBI games and is second in the league with 21 RBI, four triples and four home runs. Schulman sits 10th in the conference with a 2.32 ERA in 31 innings of work, also recording 31 strikeouts.
