Skidmore sails past RIT, 73-64

Box Score ROCHESTER, N.Y.— Eric Sanders and Aldin Medunjanin combined for 25 second half points to lead the Skidmore College men's basketball team to a 73-64 Liberty League road win over RIT, Saturday.
 
The win keeps the Thoroughbreds at the top of the Liberty League standings with a 9-2 league and 12-7 overall record. The Tigers drop to 6-6 and 11-10.
 
Connor Merrill led Skidmore with 19 points and four blocks. Sanders finished with 18 points and nine rebounds, while Medunjanin totaled 15 points and seven assists.
 
The game was tied 27-27 at the half, but the Tigers managed to lead for most of the second half until Skidmore took over with five minutes to play.
 
Down 56-54, Royce Paris hit a pair of free throws with 5:05 to play and scored a lay-up give Skidmore the lead for good, 58-56 with 4:45 left. The Thoroughbreds were able to stretch the lead to nine at the end.
 
Paris finished with 10 points off the bench.

"Good road win today after a tough loss last night," said Skidmore coach Joe Burke. "I was proud of how the guys responded. We didn't play great but we got great minutes from our bench and made some big plays down the stretch.

"We have had a really hard week emotionally. I think we all grew as people and have a greater appreciation for our roles as teammates and in the community."


Skidmore will host St. Lawrence on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
