Skidmore knocks off #20 Wooster, 73-64

Box Score Wooster, Ohio— The Skidmore College men's basketball team traveled eight hours for the right to beat #20 nationally ranked College of Wooster, 73-64, Saturday afternoon.

The unranked Thoroughbreds improve to 2-1, while the Fighting Scots drop to 1-1.

Skidmore led the entire way, with Aldin Medunjanin leading all scorers with 18 points, including a 9-10 performance from the line.  He also had five assists. Erik Sanders added 17 points and seven rebounds.  Nick Volpe had a team-high 10 rebounds to go along with five points.

The Thoroughbreds hit 24-of-28 free throws (85.7%) and held Wooster to just 20 percent from three point range (2-20).

"I'm really proud of how we competed today. It was going to take 40 minutes of Skidmore Basketball and that is what we did. To come on the road against a well coached, great program and get a win is a testament to what this group is capable of.

"Personally this has been arguably the toughest 24 hours of my life. The world lost a great man when Jack Sandler died of a sudden heart attack Thursday night. Jack was a great lacrosse coach but also had become one of my best friends. I will miss him terribly. My team picked me up and I thank them for that. As a Coach when your group has the ability to do something like that it makes you so proud of the culture that has been created.
"

Skidmore returns home for a 7 p.m. Monday non-league contest with SUNY Plattsburgh.
