Live Stats SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College men's basketball team faces a big test as it travels to take on #20 Wooster on Saturday.
The Thoroughbreds held Castleton to just six points over the final 7:29 to pull away for an 86-67 win on Tuesday. Up 61-61 with 7:29 remaining, Skidmore erupted for a 19-3 run. Senior guard
Erik Sanders posted his second double-double in as many games, leading the team with 18 points to go along with 10 rebounds and four assists.
Martin Bedulskij also added a double-double with 17 points and 10 boards and
Royce Paris had 14 points ion 5-of-7 shooting. The Thoroughbreds shot 55.2% (32-58) from the field in the win.
- Sanders and
Aldin Medunjanin are tied for the team high in scoring (15.5 ppg), ranking sixth in the Liberty League. Sanders is also second in the league in rebounds per game (10.5).
- Paris (14.5 ppg) is currently ninth in the conference in scoring and is shooting 76.9% from the field.
SCOUTING WOOSTER (1-0)
Wooster returns nine players from last year's team that went 23-7 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament. Among the returners is 2014-2015 All-North Coast Athletic Conference First Team selection, junior forward Dan Fanelly, who averaged 14.3 and 8.2 rebounds per game last season.
The Fighting Scots rolled to an 89-48 win over Silver Lake in its season opener. Wooster opened up a 56-14 lead by halftime at never looked back. Spencer Williams and Milt Davis tied for a game high with 12 points. Fanelly and Alex Baptiste each recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
- The Fighting Scots forced Silver Lake into 27 turnovers while committing just 10.
- Wooster has the highest win percentage of any NCAA men's basketball team in the 2000s (.844; 410-76)
- Last season the Fighting Scots ranked 17th in Division III in scoring margin, 22nd in points per game (80.6) and 23rd in field goal percentage (48.2%).
