Clarkson sweeps Thoroughbreds

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.— The Skidmore College baseball team dropped a pair of Liberty League games, 1-0 and 11-0 to Clarkson University on Saturday at a rain soaked Castle Diamond.

The start of the first game was delayed two hours by rain, while the second game ended after five innings for the same reason.

Skidmore (10-23, 3-17 Liberty) and Clarkson (18-11, 13-7) will play two more on Sunday at Castle Diamond, starting at 12 p.m.

In the first game, Nick Petrella tossed a complete game two-hitter, but it wasn't enough for the offense starved Thoroughbreds. Petrella hit Anthony Padrazo to open the third and then gave up a two-out double to Greg Jasek for the game's lone run.  Jasek got the win on the mound for the Golden Knights, allowing no runs on five hits, one walk and nine strikeouts.

In the second game, Clarkson scored eight runs in the first on the way to the rain-shortened win. Kevin Cross and Isaac Forman had the lone Skidmore hits.

David Wikted was 2-3 with three runs, three RBI, a double and three-run homer in the first. Tim Beninati was 2-3 with two runs and a solo homer in the fourth.

Pete Roma got the win, allowing two hits with five strikeouts over five innings.
