Women's lacrosse topped by #3 Amherst, 12-4

Box Score SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- The Skidmore College women's lacrosse team fell to No. 3 Amherst College, 12-4, in its final nonconference game of the regular season, Tuesday evening at Wachenheim Field.
 
The Thoroughbreds go to 4-9 on the season, while the Jeffs remain perfect at 12-0.
 
Tyler Phillips recorded her eighth multi-point game of the season for Skidmore with a goal and an assist. Brittney Dioneda, Spencer Morgan and Caroline Bowne all tallied, and Bowne also collected a team-high three ground balls and recorded three draw controls. Megan Kolopsky took the loss in goal, turning away six shots.
 
Priscilla Tyler led the Jeffs with three goals and two assists to go along with six draw controls. Meghan Mills netted a hat trick and scooped up a game-high six ground balls and Rachel Passarelli scored a pair of goals. In goal, Christy Forrest registered her 12th win, stopping eight shots.
 
Amherst scored five unanswered goals to start the game and never looked back. Tyler tallied twice and set up Mills for her 15th goal of the season during the run. Phillips got Skidmore on the board with 13:04 remaining in the first half, beating Forrest with a high shot on a free position, but the Jeffs responded, closing out the half with a 5-0 scoring run. Alex Phillie sparked the rally, taking a feed from Elizabeth Ludlow and scoring from close range. Mills completed her hat trick with goals at 5:33 at 4:07 and Devin O'Connor and Krista Zsitvay each potted a goal.
 
After Tyler extended the Amherst lead to 11-1 in the second half, Morgan notched her 20th goal of the season, converting on a free position with 21:29 to play. Passarelli scored her second of the game to restore the Jeffs 10-goal lead before Bowne and Dioneda tallied the two final goals of the contest.
 
Amherst outshot Skidmore 29-15 and owened a 26-20 edge in ground balls, while the Thoroughbreds had a 10-8 advantage in draw controls.
 
Skidmore hosts RPI at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19.
