Skidmore splits opener with Baruch

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Fort Myers, Fla.—The Skidmore College baseball team opened its 2014 campaign with a spilt against Baruch College in a pair of extra inning contests. The Thoroughbreds won the opener 9-8 in eight innings and lost the second game 2-1 in 10 innings.
 
In the first game, catcher Dan Miller went 4-5 with five RBI. He had a two-out walk off single in the eighth, plating Eric Watkins. Watkins was 1-3, scoring three runs. Marco Baratta was 2-5 with two runs. Justin Willig earned the win in relief.
 
In the second game, Issac Forman pitched eight strong innings, allowing one run on four hits with five walks and four strikeouts. Nick Barra was 3-5 and Alex Pavelock and Watkins had two hits each.
 
Skidmore will play Gettysburg in a pair on March 9 at 12.
