Box Score SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.-- The Skidmore College men's basketball team won its fourth straight game, 66-45 over Clarkson University in Liberty League action Tuesday night at the Williamson Sports Center.

The Thoroughbreds (13-7, 7-4 Liberty League) have held three straight opponents under 50 points. It was Clarkson's (10-8, 4-5) second loss of the season to the Thoroughbreds, who won 70-66 on Jan. 7 in Potsdam.

Skidmore's balance was key with five players in double figures.
Tanner Brooks had a double/double with 12 points and 10 rebounds to go along with four assists.Â
Perun Kovacevic nailed a double/double of his own with 10 points and 10 rebounds.Â
Aldin Medunjanin,
Erik Sanders, and
Eric Lowry each scored 11 points.
Connor Merrill chipped in five blocks to go along with six points and five rebounds.

Felix Abongo led the Golden Knight's with a game-high 16 points and 11 rebounds off the bench.

The game was tight in the first half with five lead changes and four ties. With the game tied 17-17, Skidmore used a 7-0 run to grab a 24-17 lead with 3:25 left. Medunjanin scored five of his 11 points in the run. The Thoroughbreds took the seven-point lead into the break, up 28-21.

Clarkson kept it close for a while in the second half. Abongo's free throw with 10:56 left, pulled the Golden Knights to within six, 41-35. Skidmore responded with a 13-2 run to put the game out of reach, 54-37 with 6:13 to play. Lowry had five points in the run, including a fast break three off a feed from Brooks.

The Thoroughbred defense held Clarkson to just 16-60 shooting from the floor (26.7%). On the other hand, Skidmore went 16-24 (66.7%) in the second half and 29-51 (56.9%) for the game. Take away the three-point attempts and the Thoroughbreds were an impressive 26-35 (74.3%).

Skidmore dominated inside, outscoring the Golden Knights 50-16 in the paint.Â

"I thought we brought another good defensive efforts to the table tonight," said Skidmore coach
Joe Burke. "We never really got in a rhythm offensively and credit Clarkson for that, so we needed to rely on our defense and that was good enough to get the job done.

"I'm proud of our bench, we were struggling for energy early and I thought the bench turned the game around for us.

"We need a couple days to get some guys healthy and then get back after it in practice and try and continue this momentum we have."

Skidmore is off this weekend before hitting the road for four straight conference matchups. The team is home Feb. 22 to close out the regular season against RIT in the Big Green Scream at 4 p.m.
