Tough loss for Thoroughbred men

Box Score ROCHESTER, N.Y.— A second half comeback fell short as the Skidmore College men's basketball team lost 83-77 to RIT in a Liberty League contest, Saturday.

The Thoroughbreds fall to 9-7 and 3-4 in league play, while the Tigers are 10-5 and 4-2.

RIT led 39-29 at the half and extended the lead to 21, 65-44 with 7:37 to play. Skidmore battled back to within four, 81-77 with 11 seconds left, but that was it for the Thoroughbreds.

Skidmore had four players in double figures. Aldin Medunjanin scored 17 of his team-high 19 points in the second half and had five assists. Erik Sanders hit for 18 points and nine rebounds. Eric Lowry scored 12 points and Tanner Brooks contributed 10 points and three assists.

The Thoroughbreds struggled from the free throw line, going 14-29 (48.3%), despite Medunjanin hitting eight of 11.  RIT went to the line 44 times, hitting 28 of 44 (63.6).

"Tough game today, give credit to RIT for making some big plays at pivotal times," said Skidmore coach Joe Burke.  "We never were able to get the rhythm we needed on both ends of the floor.
I really believe this road trip taught us some valuable lessons. We need to go back to work and get better and we will. Plenty of basketball left to be played."

Skidmore  will host St. Lawrence on Jan. 28 at 8 p.m.
