Skidmore pitchers shut down Vassar 1-0, 3-0

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.-- The Skidmore College baseball team rode solid pitching performances from Jordan Keysor and Max Martins in a 1-0, 3-0 Liberty League sweep of Vassar College, Saturday at Castle Diamond.
 
The Thoroughbreds improve to 10-15 overall and 6-10 in league play. The Brewers drop to 8-13-1 and 4-9-1.
 
Keysor (1-4) road a complete game seven-hit shutout to his first win of the season.  He walked one and struck out five. The senior lefty also made big defensive play when stopped a squeeze in the second when he swept the bunt with his glove directly to catcher Geoff Green for the tag at the plate. 
 
Skidmore scored its lone run in the sixth when Marco Baratta reached on a single and then advanced to second on a Leejay Pollacchi sacrifice. He later scored on an Alex Barber RBI single.
 
Vassar pitcher Joe Lovizio also threw well. He allowed one run on four hits with two walks and three strikeouts.  Dave Robbins had a pair of hits for Vassar and Nick Johnson had a double.
 
It was Max Martins' turn in the second game. The talented senior allowed only three hits with three walks and four strikeouts to even his record at 3-3.  Pollacchi went 3-4 with an RBI double in the third. Matty Tatkow was 1-2 and stole home in the fourth. Jeb Clarke was 1-3 with an RBI single in the fourth.  
 
The teams play another pair on Sunday in Poughkeepsie.
