Box Score CANTON, N.Y.- The Skidmore women's lacrosse team pulled to within one goal Saturday afternoon, but a late St. Lawrence run gave the home team a 15-10 edge in a Liberty League matchup at Hall-Leet Stadium.
The Thoroughbreds, now 0-2 in League play (1-6 overall) were led by
Lexi Melville's three goals. The senior also won two draw controls and collected two groundballs.
Emma Harris recorded three points on two goals and one assist, while
Maggie Murphy netted a pair of goals.
Robin Fetterolf,
Peggy Healy and
Spencer Morgan each scored one goal.
Brigid Hurley scored six points (five goals, one assist) to lead all scorers. Michaela Maybee tallied three goals, while Holly Noyes recorded three points (two goals, one assist). Five other Saint players scored a goal in the win.
Skidmore kept it close in the early going of the first half, exchanging a pair of goals with St. Lawrence, to make it 2-2 with just over 26 minutes left in the stanza.
A 3-0 Saint run was stopped when Healy converted on the free position opportunity bringing the score to 5-3 in favor of the home team.

Down, 6-3, the Thoroughbreds rallied, winning the draw control and working the ball around until Morgan fired one past Adden Cunningham for the free position goal to bring Skidmore within two goals at 6-4.
St. Lawrence scored three of the game's next four goals to enjoy a 9-5 lead at intermission.
Skidmore became much more aggressive on the offensive end as the second half got underway en route to a 5-1 run to bring the Thoroughbreds within one goal at 10-9.
St. Lawrence countered, scoring three unanswered goals of its own to take a 13-9 lead.
Skidmore tried to keep it close when Harris scored Skidmore's 10th goal on the free position play, but two more St. Lawrence goals sealed the victory for the home team.
Witheford takes the loss despite stopping 11 shots. Cunningham gets the win for St. Lawrence as she made nine saves.
The Thoroughbreds return to the capital region April 5 at 6 p.m. for a Liberty League contest against RPI.
