Thoroughbreds edge Edgewood

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Ft. Myers, Fla.— The Skidmore College baseball team broke into the win column with a sweep of Edgewood College, on Tuesday.

The Thoroughbreds won 6-5 and 8-7 to improve to 2-3. The Eagles are 2-8.

In the first game, Chris Lorenz hit a walk-off single for the win. Erik Watkins  was 3-3 with a two-run double.  Leejay Pollacchi and Matty Tatkow each went 3-4. Nick Barra got the win in relief of Justin Willig and starter Drew Bannon who went 4 1/3. 

In the second game, the Thoroughbreds scored five runs with two outs in the top of the seventh for the dramatic win. Alex Barber tied the game with a triple and then Jeff Spindel hit a towering two-run homer for the win. Nick Petrella got the complete game win, allowing seven runs (three earned on 10 hits with two walks and two strikeouts.   

Watkins added two hits and two RBI, while Lorenz went 3-4 with a triple.

Skidmore will play Salve Regina on March 14.
