Skidmore shuts out Southern Vermont, 4-0

Box Score SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY -- The Skidmore College men's soccer team cruised to a 4-0 win against Southern Vermont, Tuesday at Wachenheim Field.

Nick Masiero tallied twice and Brock Bakewell and Tim Sullivan each added a goal for the Thoroughbreds. Mike Lemnios, Gildas Girimana and Dimitri Barton all registered their first points of the season with assists.

Bakewell's team-leading seventh goal of the season opened the scoring for Skidmore in the 29th minute. Lemnios swung in a cross from the right wing and Bakewell rose to meet it, flicking a header inside the left post.

Masiero doubled the Thoroughbreds lead before halftime, taking a feed from Girimana 20 yards from goal and blasting a dipping strike into the top left corner. He found his second of the game in the 49th minute after dispossessing a Southern Vermont defender and beating the goalkeeper on the breakaway.

Sullivan completed the scoring for the Skidmore in the 88th minute, heading home a restart from Dimitri Barton.

Skidmore outshot Southern Vermont 41-5 and held a 15-2 advantage in corners. Eli Kisselbach made four saves for his third win and first shutout of the season. Mountaineers goalkeeper Chris Dunham stopped 11 shots in the loss.

The Thoroughbreds (6-3-2) travel to Bard College for a Liberty League contest Oct. 8 at 7 p.m.
