SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – The Skidmore College men's soccer team fell 2-0 to No. 12 Hobart at Wachenheim Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Thoroughbreds (4-5-3, 1-2-1 Liberty League) held a 19-9 advantage in shots and a 7-4 edge in corner kicks, but a pair of second-half goals from the Statesmen (10-2-1, 3-2-1 Liberty League) proved to be the difference.
HOW IT HAPPENED

- Junior Rowan McLear made his first save of the afternoon in the 44th minute to keep the game scoreless at halftime.
- At the break, Skidmore had doubled up Hobart in shots, 8-4, and held a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.
- The Statesmen broke through in the 57th minute when Gabe Smith received a lofted pass into the box, took a pair of touches past Skidmore defenders and McLear, and scored into the open net.
- The Thoroughbreds looked to answer with four shots and two corner kicks between the 60th and 63rd minutes.
- Hobart extended its lead in the 80th minute when Brady Leitner headed in a free kick from Quinn Phillips to make it 2-0.
