Box Score Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-- Hobart scored 21 of its 67 points from the free throw line, including two with 2.5 seconds left in overtime for a 67-66 Liberty League win over Skidmore College, Saturday at the Williamson Center.
The game was the latest in rivalry that includes Thoroughbred (7-4, 1-1 Liberty) wins over the Statesmen (6-4, 2-0) in the 2011 and 2012 Liberty League championship games.
Hobart's Stefan Thompson hit a three-pointer from well beyond the arc with 2.1 seconds left in regulation to force the overtime, 60-60. Richie Bonney was fouled at the end of the OT and made both of his free throws for the win.
Skidmore overcame an early seven-point deficit to grab a 31-28 lead at the half behind 15 points and from freshman guard
Tanner Brooks.
The Thoroughbreds never trailed in the second half, leading by as many as 10. Hobart chipped away at the lead behind 18 second-half points from Bonney.

Hobart scored the first five points of the overtime to go up 65-60.
Connor Merrill and Brooks each hit a pair of free throws to make it 65-64. After a Statesmen miss, Brooks grabbed the rebound and hit a jumper after a timeout to give the Thoroughbreds the lead 66-65 with 17 seconds left.

" I thought this was a heck of a college basketball game," said Skidmore coach
Joe Burke. "I am disappointed for our guys because we played a pretty complete game but it wasn't met to be tonight. We have had a number of battles with Hobart and this was just another one. There are no moral victories but I do believe this was a great experience for our young guys who took part in this game for the first time.
"I had a feeling the game might come down to the final possession and unfortunately they made the last play in a game filled with big time plays. We can't hang our heads, this is the grind they call conference play. You got to get off the mat and get ready for an incredible challenge on the road against St. Lawrence."
Brooks finished with 24 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, and a pair of steals. Medunjanin added five points and five assists, while
Sakhile Sithole had nine points on 4-5 shooting.
Bonney finished with 29 points, hitting 11 of 14 free throws. Thompson had 11 points, while Joe Gibbons scored 12.
Skidmore is back in action Jan. 8 at St. Lawrence.
