Thoroughbreds come from behind for 64-59 win at Vassar

Box Score Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's basketball team came from 13 points down to beat Vassar College 64-59 in Liberty League action Friday night.

The loss sets the Brewers to 5-9 and 1-4 in Liberty League play. The Thoroughbreds' win brings them to 10-5 and 4-2 in League action. Skidmore will stay in the Hudson Valley for tomorrow's game at Bard College at 4:00 p.m.

With 15:36 remaining in the second half, Skidmore went on a 22-11 run, coming from a deficit of 44-33 in favor of Vassar to tie the score 55-55 with 5:35 remaining. Tanner Brooks hit three 3-pointers during that ten-minute span.

Skidmore went on a 9-4 run after tying the game. Sophomore forward Alex Snyder hit a layup with 3:11 remaining, bringing the Brewers within three points of tying the 60-57 game. Snyder brought Vassar within one point after he grabbed an offensive board for the tip-in with 0:19 left. Skidmore's Connor Merrill and Aldin Medunjanin hit a pair of free throws each to wrap up the game.

Medunjanin finished with a game-high 20 points and went 6-6 from the line to extend his free throw streak to 28 straight over the last five games. Connor Merrill had 12 points and four blocks, while Dahill scored 11points. Brooks ended the game with nine points and three steals.

" I thought we hung in there tonight," said Skidmore coach Joe Burke.  "It wasn't the prettiest of games but a lot of that was attributed to Vassar's play. They are well coached and really took it to us in the first half. We had a good conversation in the locker room at halftime and the guys came out and responded."
