Saratoga Springs, N.Y. - The Skidmore College baseball team wrapped up its regular season with a doubleheader split with RPI, Sunday afternoon at Castle Diamond.
Skidmore took the opener, 14-1 and the Engineers came back to take the nightcap, 12-1.
The Thoroughbreds are now 26-11 overall and 12-10 in league play, while RPI improves to 23-11 overall and 16-6.
In the first game, Skidmore sent 11 players to the plate in a five-run second and then scored six runs on two hits in the third on the way to the 14-1 win. The team scored its first 11 runs without an extra base hit.
While the Thoroughbreds were hot on offense, pitcher Zack Rudman didn't allow a hit until one out in the fifth on the way to his fifth win of the season. Rudman (5-1) allowed an unearned run on three hits with two walks and five strikeouts in six innings. He benefited from three double plays.
Levi Washburn (2-1) took the loss, going the first 1.1. Kyle Kopacz had an RBI single in the fifth for the lone RPI run.
In game two, Mike Campisi (4-3) tossed a complete game, allowing six hits and one run, while striking out five and the Engineers used a five-run third inning to build up a 6-0 lead on their way to a 12-1 win.
They added three more runs in the fourth on a three-run homerun from Tanner Boucher, who finished with two hits and four RBI. Kyle LaVigne went 2-4 with four runs scored and Cody Vincent scored three runs.
Brown finished 2-3 with two doubles and a run scored and Lowry also went 2-4 with an RBI.
Bobby Stafutti (3-2) took the loss, tossing the first 2.1 innings.
Both teams return to action this weekend at the Liberty League Tournament, hosted by RPI.
