Saratoga Springs, N.Y.— Three Skidmore pitchers held Hamilton College to one run on five hits in a 4-1 non-league baseball win at Castle Diamond.
The Thoroughbreds improve to 11-5, while the Continentals drop to 5-13.
Jordan Keysor earned the win to improve to 2-1. Keysor allowed one run on three hits with a walk and two strikeouts in four innings.
Zack Rudman retired 13 of 14 batters over the next four innings and
Chris Aulet picked-up his second save of the season with a scoreless ninth.
Hamilton took a brief 1-0 lead on a towering two-out home run buy Justin Atwood in the fourth. It would be the final offensive threat by the Continentals.
Skidmore responded with three runs on four consecutive hits in the bottom of the third. In his second career at bat,
Rob Safir tripled to right and then scored on a misplayed throw by the right fielder.
Rob Rubenstein singled and then scored on
Zack Rudman double. Eric Watkins plated Rudman with an RBI single.
The Thoroughbreds scored their fourth run in the sixth when Rubenstein walked, advanced to second on an infield out and then scored on an RBI single by
Alex Barber.
Hamilton pitcher Dan Kroening took the loss, despite a complete game eight-hitter.
Skidmore travels to Long Island on Saturday for a non-league doubleheader at St. Joseph's. Hamilton is at Cobleskill on Friday. <cpi12>
