Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-- Skidmore College came from two runs down in the bottom of the 10th for a wild 6-5 win in the first of a Liberty League baseball doubleheader against St. Lawrence University. The Saints earned the split, winning a second game pitching duel, 2-1.

The teams will meet again Sunday at Castle Diamond in a pair at 12 p.m.

The Thoroughbreds are 22-8 overall and 9-7 in Liberty League play. SLU is 16-14 and 9-8.

In the first game, Skidmore spotted the Saints a run in the top of the first, coming back in the bottom of the inning with three. Erik Watkins had a two run single and Logan Arena walked and scored on a balk.

Neither team scored again until the sixth. Paul Piatelli and Khifer O'Connor opened the inning with consecutive hit by pitches. Brian Magoveny advanced the pair with a sacrifice hit. Piatelli then scored on a wild pitch, with O'Connor scoring the tying run on a two-out double by Matt Deluca.

In the 10th, Magoveny drove-in two runs with a two-out single to make it 5-3. Skidmore responded again in the bottom of the 10th. Logan Arena stated the inning with a walk and moved to third when Watkins singled and advanced to second on an outfield error. After an infield out, Casey Quinn tied it with a two-run single, moving to second on a throw to the plate. Jeremy Selecky then ended it with a walk-off double.

Zack Rudman started for Skidmore, going 7 1/3, allowing three runs (two earned) on only two hits. Jordan Keysor earned the win in relief. Watkins finished 3-5 with two RBI. Brian Lowry was 2-5 with two doubles.

SLU starter Chris Cook went eight innings, allowing three runs on six hits with 10 strikeouts. Andrew Weitzel took the loss in relief.

In the second game, Skidmore's Nick Laracuente and St. Lawerence's Jason Conde hooked-up in a classic pitching duel. Conde got the win, allowing one run on eight hits, no walks, and eight strikeouts. He didn't allow a runner past second until the seventh inning. Laracuente (8-1) took his first loss of the season, allowing two runs on four hits, no walks and five strikeouts.

St. Lawrence scored one in the third, when Zane Fish reached on a hit batter, moved to second on a sacrifice and scored on a Joshin Atone single. Paul Piatelli homered to deep right center for the other Saint run. Skidmore's lone run came in the seventh when Watkins doubled and scored on a pitch-hit single by Logan Arena.

Rob Rubenstein and Jeremy Selecky had two hits each for the Thoroughbreds. Fish was 2-2 for the Saints. Magoveny, playing in left for the Saints, made a huge catch against the fence to save two runs in the fourth.
