Canton, N.Y.-- Trevor Brucato tossed his second straight complete game shutout in the first game to lead the Skidmore College baseball team to a 3-0 win over Clarkson University.  Clarkson won the second game 15-8. The Liberty League doubleheader was played at St. Lawrence University.

The Thoroughbreds took three of four from Clarkson to improve to 8-6 in Liberty League play and 21-7 overall.  The Golden Knights are 10-16 and 14-12.

In the first game, Brucato allowed no runs on four hits with no walks and three strikeouts to improve to 4-1 on the season.

Skidmore opened the scoring in the second with a walk to Zach Rudman and a botched fielder's choice allowed another runner to reach base. Following another sacrifice bunt, Logan Arena delivered a two-run double. It was all the runs Skidmore would need.

Clarkson threatened in the sixth with a pair of two-out hits, but Brucato got out of the jam by inducing a pop up to end the inning. The Knights wouldn't be so lucky in the bottom half of the inning as Skidmore tacked on an insurance run. Erik Watkins forced in a run with a bases loaded groundout to give the Thoroughbreds a 3-0 win.

In the second game, the Golden Knights roughed up the Thoroughbred staff with 15 runs on 17 hits.  Clarkson led 12-2 before Skidmore battled back in the final two innings for the 15-8 final. Rob Rubenstein was 3-4 with a double and two RBI. Alex Pavelock came off the bench to go 2-2 with an RBI and two runs.
